Hoover @ Austintown Fitch
Canton Repository
SITE: Falcon Stadium, 7:30 p.m.
RECORDS: Hoover 6-0; Fitch 3-3.
LAST WEEK: Hoover 19, McKinley 0; Mooney 28, Fitch 7.
LAST MEETING: First meeting.
WHAT TO WATCH: Fitch RB Miles Williams is the real deal, and he runs behind an offensive line that opens tremendous holes and understands the system. However, the Falcons have not faced a team as balanced as Hoover. The Vikings have a solid running game with RBs Alex Ramsey and Mike Wright, but they can pass, too. QB Sam Cerreta has been poised and accurate from the pocket, and his offensive line, led by Mark Rose, is providing time. It helps to have sure-handed receivers in Kyle Watts and Brian Druckenbrod. Hoover will be without FS Dan Grube, but that shouldn't hurt too much unless Fitch plans to throw against Hoover's 5-3 defense. The Viking defense is the most underrated unit in the county. It has allowed just 13 points during the last three weeks, and only 30 points all season. It will be tough for Fitch to move the ball against this front eight because they understand the scheme and are quick.
