Hoover vs Boardman
Canton Repository
SITE: North Canton Memorial Stadium, 7:30 p.m.
RECORDS: Boardman 0-3, 0-0; Hoover 0-3, 0-0.
LAST WEEK: Youngstown Chaney 47, Boardman 14; Louisville 37, Hoover 21.
LAST MEETING: Hoover won 49-28 last year.
WHAT TO WATCH: All of Hoover’s losses can be attributed to second-half collapses. The Vikings lost to Green late, was within a TD of taking the lead against Buchtel in the fourth and was tied with Louisville at halftime.
Hoover’s defense needs to tackle better than it did last week.
Boardman, which has been struggling, will try to force Hoover defenders into one-on-one tackling situations.
QB Jason Foote was injured against Louisville but could play this week. The Hoover offense looked good with Foote at QB and Sean Kostelnik, who was rotating with Foote, voluntarily moving to WR and RB. Kostelnik is a playmaker, the kind of player the Vikings have done well with in previous seasons.
While Hoover has struggled, so has Boardman. The Spartans have lost to Ursuline, St. Ignatius and Chaney, managing just 28 points this season.
