Hoover @ Boardman
Canton Repository

SITE: Spartan Stadium, Youngstown, OH, 7:30 p.m.

RECORDS: Hoover 2-1, Boardman 0-3.

LAST WEEK: Louisville 35, Hoover 29; Chaney 29, Boardman 0.

LAST MEETING: Hoover won 21-0 last year.

WHAT TO WATCH: Boardman is struggling, but Hoover shouldn’t take a road win for granted.

The Vikings are getting good play from QB Josh Nettleton, who threw for 226 yards last week. He was victimized by his receivers, who dropped eight passes. The Vikings need to find consistency on offense and establish balance. They do not have much of a ground game, evidenced by 14 rushing yards against Louisville.

The Hoover defense will have to come up with turnovers as it did last week against Louisville. Those turnovers give the offense more opportunities to develop consistency and score. OLB Jordan Bucar will need another good performace this week against the run oriented Boardman Spartans. Last week Bucar recorded 11 stops, 4 for loss.

Boardman’s key offensive players are QB Joe Bako, RB Tyme Hammond and RB Armani Johnson. If Hoover can get an early lead, which is likely, the Spartans will be forced to put the game on Bako’s shoulders.
