Canton Repository

1, Massillon

“You want to have a core group of seniors, they have it. They were young on the offensive line last year, and that will be a point of strength. The biggest thing I noticed about Massillon is how disciplined and respectful they are. Tom (Stacy) has brought discipline back to Massillon football, and those kids respect the game.”

2, McKinley

“Brian Cross has obviously rebuilt that program by being fundamentally sound, and very rarely do they beat themselves. In order to beat them, you have to execute. They also have gotten back to their tradition of being physical in the trenches. They’ve always got kids with skill.”

3, North Canton

“They’ve got tremendous tradition. They have so many homegrown kids. I think that ... really helps them year in and year out. And they haven’t had that many coaches (over the years). That continuity in coaching is huge.”

4, Jackson

“Phil (Mauro) does a great job coaching them. Phil and (defensive coordinator) Al Checca always have them very well prepared. They have their best speed in a very long time, and up front, they really get after you. You have to be physical ... The biggest thing with them is losing a guy like (James) Craven. What a great player he was for them.”
