WHAT TO WATCH: The Vikings played with an emotional edge last week, something coach Don Hertler Jr. thought was missing early in the season. He hopes the Vikings bring that same energy on the road this week. "We won't have that home crowd," he said. "Hopefully, we get a good following. But we have to bring our own energy and put four quarters together, which we haven't really done this season."

Hertler wants to see the Vikings develop more consistency on each side of the ball, instead of relying on flashes of great play.

Senior QB Jared Wackerly has thrown for 626 yards, while sophomore TB Erick Howard has rushed for 524 yards on 100 carries. WR-DB Matt Wakulchik and TE-LB Kevin Dahl are two-way impact players. They have combined for 27 catches and four TDs. Wakulchik has 415 all-purpose yards.

Dahl made two tackles for loss last week. Senior DT James Georgiades was active, too, making two sacks and a tackle for loss.

Boardman's wing-T is capable of controlling the clock or popping big plays. The Spartans rushed for 318 yards last week. Damien Jarrett and Cameron Shaffer had TD runs of 89 and 54 yards, respectively. QB Nick Tuminello added a 21-yard TD pass to 6-foot-3 WR Pat McFall.
