Erick Howard and Neal Seaman were the sparks that made two of Stark County's top high school football offenses go.

Whether it was Howard carrying the ball for Hoover or Seaman throwing it for Louisville, scoreboards lit up when either took the field.

Both were honored Monday as Co-Offensive Players of the Year on The Associated Press All-Ohio teams — Howard in Division I and Seaman in Division II. Hoover's Don Hertler Jr. and Louisville's Paul Farrah also earned shares of Coach of the Year honors for their divisions.

Fourteen Named to First team

In all, 14 area players were named first-team All-Ohio as the Division I, II and III teams were announced.

Howard, a 5-foot-10, 210-pound junior, ran for 2,387 yards and 31 touchdowns. He carried the ball 404 times in piling up the fourth-most rushing yards in a Stark County single season, helping the Vikings go 12-2 and reach the state final four.

Seaman, a 6-2, 200-pound senior, was 185-of-299 for 2,503 yards, 20 TDs and seven interceptions. He also ran for 432 yards and five scores as Louisville won its first 12 games before falling in the regional final.

Howard is joined on the Division I first team by teammate Dom Boyle, GlenOak's Aaron Williams, McKinley's Jewone Snow and Massillon's J.T. Turner.

Boyle anchored an offensive line that averaged 340 yards per game. Williams made 68 tackles as a defensive lineman, including six sacks. Snow had 128 total hits, including seven tackles for loss, from his linebacker position. Turner intercepted four passes, taking two back for TDs, as a defensive back.

In Division II, Seaman is joined on the first team by teammates Brandon Mathie and Corey Whaley.

Mathie had 67 catches for 973 yards and eight TDs. Whaley held down a defensive end slot, making 36 tackles, including eight sacks.

In Division III, Canton South and Dover both put a pair on the first team. Wide receiver Jerald Robinson and linebacker Mike McKinney represent the Wildcats, joining quarterback Corey Lisowski and receiver Cory Matlick for the Tornadoes.

Robinson caught 34 passes for 756 yards and seven touchdowns. McKinney made 91 tackles, including 21 solos in one game. Lisowski threw for 4,012 yards and 40 touchdowns. Matlick caught 62 of Lisowski's passes for 1,069 yards and 14 scores.

Also on the Division II first team are Northwest lineman Nate Klatt, who helped the Indians average 375 yards per game, and Marlington punter Allen Strouble, who averaged 46.7 yards on 42 punts.

Fourteen area players earned second-team honors as well.

The Division I list includes Hoover kicker A.J. Sarbaugh, McKinley defensive lineman Steve Miller, GlenOak linebacker Andrew Garman, Hoover linebacker Tim Hartzell and Massillon defensive back Cooper Ivan.

In Division II, it's Lake offensive lineman Dillon Miller, Alliance linebacker Delion Freeman and the Louisville trio of offensive lineman Corey Street, defensive lineman Bryan Kuhn and defensive back Bobby Swigert.

In Division III, the second-team includes Canton South quarterback Matt Trissel, Northwest running back Evan Bach, Minerva defensive back Josh Fick and New Philadelphia wideout Tyler Dummermuth.
