LAST MEETING: Hoover won, 38-7, last year.

WHAT TO WATCH: Hoover TB Erick Howard is on a tear with 563 yards the last two weeks. Coach Don Hertler Jr. can’t recall a back having back-to-back weeks like that. Howard is averaging 8.3 yards per carry for the season. QB Brett Tulodzieski has been efficient in the passing game. In four games, he’s completed 58 percent of his passes and thrown for 446 yards with no interceptions. Not to be ignored is the Hoover defense, which has given up just one TD in two league games. Lake and Perry combined for just 176 rushing yards against the Vikings.

Boardman has been destroying teams. The Spartans have eclipsed the 50-point mark three times, outscoring opponents, 241-55. Senior RB Damien Jarrett is coming off a 203-yard rushing game last week, while Cameron Shaffer ran for 123 yards. Boardman had 423 as a team. Jarrett had 201 all-purpose yards the previous week and has 897 yards rushing and receiving for the season. QB Rob Boyd has thrown for 704 yards with six TDs and just one interception. Defensively, the Spartans give up an average of 75 rushing yards per game. They are led up front by two-way tackle Corey Linsley, who has committed to Ohio State.

Boardman rushed for 423 yards and nine touchdowns. Damien Jarrett led the Spartans' rushing attack with 203 yards on 21 carries and had touchdown runs of 1, 1, 11 and 53 yards. Cameron Shaffer added 123 yards on the ground and two scores for Boardman.

The Panthers got on the board first with a Michael Tallman 3-yard TD run. Boardman then went up 14-7. Perry tied the game up with a Kevin Vargo 11-yard touchdown reception from Adam Offenberger. The Panthers' other score came on a Caleb Laps 32-yard TD run. Laps ended the game with 74 yards rushing.

Boardman’s Offensive:
Boarbman utilizes the wing-T with aspects
of a spread offense. On one play the Spartans
may line up with four receivers to one side of
the field, while the next may feature tailback
Damien Jarrett taking a direct snap from center
and quarterback Rob Boyd split out wide.
Whatever the formation, Boyd has given the
Spartans a solid passing threat in his first
season under center, while Jarrett, who
rushed for more than 1,100 yards last season,
is a dangerous dual-purpose back who can run
and catch.

The line is anchored by Corey Linsley,
a 6-foot-4, 290-pound tackle who has committed
to Ohio State.

Boarman's Defensive Scheme:
Boardman utilizes a 4-4 set.  Ogilvie said
Boardman’s 4-4 is more a read-and-react
scheme that also tends toward a cover-3 look
in the secondary.

Corey Linsley didn’t play along the defensive line last season but is on
both sides of the ball this year. Pat McFall is a big linebacker at 6-3,
230 pounds, while J.T. Moore is a talented defensive end.

Ogilvie Philosophy:
"You have to run the football and be physical. "
