West shuts out East in East-West All-Star Football Game

CANTON Jimmy Shiplett threw for two touchdowns and Carlin Isles ran for two scores as the West won, 27-0, on Saturday night in The Repository East-West All-Star Football Game at Fawcett Stadium.

Rob Hoagland opened the scoring on an 88-yard touchdown catch-and-run from Shiplett. It is the longest receiving touchdown in the game's 19-year history.

Isles added a 2-yard TD run and Shiplett found T.J. Viscuso for a 9-yard touchdown reception as the West took a 20-0 lead into halftime.

Isles scored on a 31-yard run late in the third quarter for the only points of the second half.

The West now leads the series, 10-9.

SCHOTT WINS KICKING CONTEST

Massillon Washington High School graduate Steve Schott won the East-West kicking contest for the fourth-straight year, converting from 52 yards for the winner. Schott came in as the only three-time winner of the event.
