GLENOAK SCOUTING REPORT:
Inconsistent play, ill-timed mistakes and injuries have put the Golden Eagles in serious danger of missing the playoffs for the first time in head coach Scott Garcia’s four-year tenure. GlenOak’s big plays have dried up. The Eagles haven’t had a TD play of more than 13 yards since Week 2 against Massillon. (1)
The Eagles defense alllowed 34 unanswered points in each of their last two games. (2)
Bri'onte Dunn (Ohio State commit) is 348 rushing yards away from 2,000 on the season.
GlenOak is a very one-dimensional offensive team in regards to production. They have had to rely exclusively on the running game to generate any yardage due to an inconsistant and unproductive passing game. To the Eagle's advantage, they have Bri'onte Dunn who, over the past four weeks has generated 554 rushing yards on 127 carries. (139 yards per game).
GlenOak's passing game by the numbers (comp-att-int-yards):
8-22-2-87 vs Fitch (09-24)
8-20-1-54 vs McKinley (10-01)
7-13-2-154 vs Lake (10-08)
1-9-0-18 vs Boardman (10-15)
That equates to a completion percentage of 38% for 78 yards per game.
In summary, stop Bri'onte Dunn and you stop the Golden Eagles. Easier said than done!
The Vikings will be without starting quarterback Austin Appleby, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the first quarter against McKinley.
Hoover’s two quarterbacks for the rest of the year will be Domenic Iero and Brandon Strausser. Iero came in for Appleby last week and threw for 143 yards. That included a 71-yard TD pass to Stephen Denissoff that Iero threw on a trick play early in the game before Appleby’s injury. (3)
