Louisville Leopards @ Hoover
Friday, Sept 3, 2010
SITE: North Canton Memorial Stadium, 7:30 PM
RECORDS: Louisville 0-1, Hoover 1-0.
LAST WEEK: Walsh Jesuit 28 - Louisville 14; Hoover 35 - Wilson, Ontario 25.
Louisville QB, Chad Neff scored both Louisville TD's by rushing for a 1 yard TD and 8 yard TD. Neff finished the night with 66 rushing yards on 20 carries. Passing, Neff was 12-22 with 1 INT and 78 passing yards. Meanwhile, Louisville's defense gave up 344 total yards; 155 on the ground on 39 carries.
Last week against Walsh Jesuit, Louisville ran an I-formation with 4 receivers. Expect a similar look this week. Louisville wideouts, Mike Schooley, Jeremy White and Dillon Stertzbach have the ability to stretch defenses with their speed. Louisville's key for success rests with their inexperienced offensive line. With 5 new starters on the offensive line, Louisville's new QB, Chad Neff will rely on his new line to provide sufficient time to find an open receiver.
Lucas Poyser returns for his second season after rushing for 875 yards and nine touchdowns last year as the featured back.
LAST MEETING: Louisville won, 34-13, last year.
HEAD COACH: John DeMarco, first season
RETURNING LETTERMEN: 14
BOTTOM LINE: John DeMarco inherits a program he knows very well. As Offensive Coordinator, DeMarco helped lead the Leopards to 34 victories over the past three seasons. This year’s team is not viewed as the favorite to win the NBC title. However, the unexpected can happen and often does.
