NORTH CANTON It’s strange for Hoover High School football head coach Don Hertler Jr. not to see Erick Howard on the practice field. A two-time Mr. Football and four-year performer leaves a lasting impression.
But it’s also strange for Hertler not to see Mark Wiley, Jordan Witt and others from last year’s senior class who were part of two Federal League titles and three straight playoff nods, including a state semifinal appearance in 2008.
“It’s almost like having a new job,” Hertler said. “You have a whole new group of kids.”
Hoover Scouting Report
From one of their most experienced teams in 2009, Hoover’s coaches are breaking in one of their youngest and least experienced teams in 2010. The Vikings return one starter on each side of the ball, that being wide receiver Joe Housos and defensive back Eric LePage.
