Plain Local Schools opens Middlebranch High School.

Austintown Fitch fields first-ever varsity squad. They only play one game this year.
Wooster's high school team is called the "Generals" for the first time.

New Philadelphia is called the "Quakers" for the first time - used to be just "red and black".
Quaker Stadium in New Philadelphia has it's first game on 9/29, a New Philly loss to Wooster, 6-0.

Jackson Center School established and fields varsity squad that same year.

Canton Township School (future Canton South) begins in 1932, formed from a consolidate of North Industry & Waco HS's.

Hoover Dam is constructed to hold back the Colorado River.

Canton Township fields a varsity football program for the first time.
1936
Canton Lehman High School begins play with a full varsity squad.
1937
Former Canton Central High School demolished to make room for Timken High School.
Dover's Crater Field opens on September 24th.
Hartville does not field a football team this season.
Golden Gate Bridge completed.
1938
Boardman plays first home game under lights on 11/04/1938 - defeating East Palestine, 45-0.
Fawcett Stadium is dedicated on September 17th, as McKinley defeats Lehman, 48-6.
1939
Timken High School opens, using only a JV squad in it's first season.
New stadium opened at Massillon - eventually called Paul Brown Tiger Stadium.
Greentown High School opens.
Nazi Germany invades Poland; World War II begins.
1940
Timken High School fields a varsity football program for the first time.
The Akron Rubber Bowl is dedicated in a high school game where Massillon defeats Alliance, 40-0.
1941
North Canton Hoover wins the Stark County Class B Championship with a 6-2-1 record.
The current Boardman Stadium is built and dedicated on November 15th were the Spartans defeat Sebring, 21-0.
Japan launches attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th.
1943
Canton Township School does not field a team this year.
1944
Canton Lincoln High School fields a varsity football program for the first time.
D-Day: Allied forced land at Normandy on June 6th.
1945
North Canton High School joins the Metro League.
German forces surrender to Allied forces on May 7th.
Japan surrenders to Allied forces on August 15th.
1946
Louisville's stadium gets lights for the first time.
1947
North Canton opens Memorial Stadium.
North Canton wins the Metropolitan League Championship with a 9-0-1 record.

Louisville changes it's nickname from the Blue Raiders to the Leopards.
Canton Township School becomes known as Canton South High School for the first time.
Canton Central Catholic's current building on West Tuscarawas opens.

North Canton wins the Metropolitan League Championship with a 7-2 record.
Following the end of the season, Boardman drops out of Tri-County Conference to join Steel Valley Conference.

Sandy Valley High School is formed by the merger of East Sparta and Waynesburg High. Fields a varsity team in first year.
United States take over advisory role in Vietnam from the French who leave Vietnam after their defeat at Diem Bi en Po.
Glen Bell opens Taco Tia (known today as Taco Bell) in San Bernardino, CA.

Green Local School District opens new high school and renames itself from Greensburg to Green.
Perry fields a JV football team for the first time, and winds up playing a couple of varsity games, too.

Perry fields a full season of varsity football games.
North Canton and Greentown School Districts merge. A new, consolidated school is built, called Hoover High.
Hartville and Uniontown High Schools merge to become a new Hartville High School.
Glenwood High School opens, replacing Middlebranch as the high school in Plain Local.

The consolidated Hartville High Schools is renamed Lake High School before the school year.
Marlington High School is formed by Marlboro's absorbtion of Lexington & Washington Township students.

Timken joines the new Inter-City Conference.

Fairless High Schools is formed by the merger of Beach City, Brewster and Navarre High Schools.

Hoover withdraws from the Metro League after the season, citing travel reasons.
1962
The Inter-City Conference is disbanded at end of season.
McKinley serves a one-year suspension for violating OHSAA rules.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame opens to the general public on September 9th.

I-77 opens through Stark County.
1964
First ever Arby's restaurants opens on July 23rd in Boardman.
1965
The first US. combat troops arrive in Vietnam on March 8th, as 3,500 Marines land at China Beach to defend the
American air base at Da Nang. They join 23,000 American military advisers already in Vietnam.
