Help Give Our Children and Community a Safer,
More Usable Playing Field

Sixty-four years ago, the generous citizens of North Canton pulled together to fund the construction of Hoover High School's Memorial Stadium, leaving a legacy that has benefited countless students, parents, and community members for decades.

We can look back and thank those who had the foresight to give us a first-class facility that has been the site of so many memories.

As I write you today, we have an exciting opportunity to come together again to make a difference for local children - now and for years to come. You can help leave a new legacy to the community by donating to the Memorial Stadium Improvement Campaign.

Our goal is to raise money to help fund the replacement of the stadium's grass field with safer, all-weather synthetic FieldTurf - a much needed renovation that will benefit area youth and the entire community.

Plans are to have the artificial turf installed in time for the 2011 football season. Your kind donation will help pay for the cost of this long-overdue upgrade.

Like toe project to pay for the stadium years ago, this effort will be funded solely with private donations. No school funds, levy money or tax dollars will be used for this project.

A Project Whose Time Has Come

As more and more local high schools take advantage of all-weather turf, our wonderful stadium remains vastly under-used because of its outdated, impractical grass field. The installation of a synthetic field surface will turn Memorial Stadium into a true "community" facility, available for everything from peewee football to boy's and girl's lacrosse. Additionally, the new turf will...

  • allow participants in sports and activities (including band, baseball or soccer) to use the all-weather field for practices during wet months.
  • enable the school to rent the stadium for football playoff games or any other activity that could make use of the artificial surface.
  • enable community organizations, such as the YMCA, to use the field for their activities, as time permits.

A Safer Option

Who’s playing on FieldTurf?
  • Over 1,000 high schools play on FieldTurf
  • 21 of the NFL’s 32 teams have chosen to play and/or practice on FieldTurf
  • More than 100 NCAA D-1 teams play and/or practice on FieldTurf
  • Over 500 municipal and recreational football fields have FieldTurf

Its rubber, granular base has shown in studies to reduce ankle, knee and head injuries. To learn more about the benefits of FieldTurf, please see www.fieldturf.com. Stadium Rendering

Please Act Today and Be Part of History

The cost of the FieldTurf project is approximately $750,000 and will be financed over a period of time. In order to reach this goal, we need the kind support of community members like you. Your donation of any amount will be greatly appreciated. If we are fortunate enough to reach beyond this goal, collected money will go into an account for future field maintenance or stadium improvements.

Donating is easy. If you prefer to donate by credit card via PayPal, simply click on the yellow "Donate" button below. If you'd rather donate by check,  click on the gray "Donate by Check" button below.

All donors will be recognized in the Hoover High School Gameday Program and hoovervikingsfootball.com. Donors who give at the $1000 level or above will be honored on a permanent plaque at the stadium.

Thank you for your time and consideration today. Together, we'll give our community a gift that will benefit our children and community for generations.
